This place makes amazing food! I try to stop here at least once every time I visit from New York. I always go basic with a Cuban sandwich, but it really is one of the best I've had!! Lots of traditional offerings served up by the friendly staff at fair prices!

Shown are the pork chunks and shredded pork. I’ve had some great Cuban food in South Florida, and these meals were just okay. The flavor was alright, but there was nothing just super special about it. The price was reasonable, but the portion was not huge. The rice did not taste fresh. The place is lovely, but despite a near empty restaurant the service was slow and mediocre. The waitress was nice but didn’t bring us menus and never brought our appetizer. I really wanted to love this place, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Tip: enjoy this place for a quiet meal that won’t break the budget. 🤫

I was born and raised in Miami and this place is the real deal. When I go here with my dad we are greeted like family. The food is authentic and the service is beyond friendly and fast. You cannot help but leave this place happy and full. And who doesn’t want to be happy and full? Lol! Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed!!

I went to Sugar Cane on a Monday night. This was my first time here. It wasn't busy. The only person working the dining room was the bartender, Angel. Angel was fantastic. That's the best service I have received at any restaurant in a long time. The food was great also, but the service was top notch. I will definitely be back when in the area again.

The food here is great. I went during lunch with my coworkers and all of is enjoyed the many different dishes we got. The service is friendly and lively. They will always give you great recommendations and explain how something's cooked and the flavors you can expect to taste from your dish.

Stopped in for lunch today. This place is amazing. I'm a Miami native so I'm pretty critical of my Cuban food. This place passed with flying colors. The service was great and prices were fair. Must go back. It's nice having a little piece of home right here in Atlantic beach. Little disclaimer, if you're not used to Cuban coffee be careful the stuff is like nitrous for the body haha

Ohhh the wonderful flavors! Restaurant is very clean, the staff is amazing, the food is incredible! The owner's mother explained how this was her son's dream to own his own restaurant where he could share his family recipes and I'd say he definately found his calling. Can't wait to go again soon!

This is the best Cuban food in Florida! Derek and his staff make you feel like your in your grandmother’s kitchen laughing and dancing and eating amazing food. It reminds me of home. I love this place!

Shredded pork was wonderful, so vey tender and flavorful. The sweet plantains were carmelized to perfection and the wait staff was was Johnny-on-the-spot. All in all a very enjoyable meal.

Great Cuban Food At The Beach. Stopped in to check out the Cuban food and we weren't disappointed. Service was great and very engaging. We had questions and they were happy to answer them. Once we ordered we didn't have to wait long before our order came out. A generous portion of very tasty food is what arrived at our table. We'll be back. If your looking for something different to eat I'd highly recommend giving sugar cane a try.

My husband and I have visited this restaurant many times and the food is consistently delicious! Everything is very flavorful and good portion sizes. It's a comfortable atmosphere and I like when they have music. :) Service is sometimes great and sometimes not but overall we enjoy our time here and the food is worth the visit.

We stumbled on this restaurant on our way back to our Jacksonville hotel on Mayport road. We've had Cuban food in Key West and in Cuba while on a cruise. This rates a 5 star! They had two servers and it looked like everyone must have just ordered right before we walked in. We were debating on what to do. A lovely couple sitting at the next table over informed us of the situation. They said that it was way worth the wait and suggested a couple meals for us. The waitress apologized for the delay and brought us a meat pastry/turnover and a couple slices of garlic bread on the house. We eat out every week and live in the Fort Walton Beach area (a tourist town). I wish this restaurant was in our area!

Nice to have another Cuban cuisine option. Sevice was very good, food good as well. My wife ordered a Cuban sandwich, which was good but did not have a lot of meat. I ordered vaca frita, which was also good, but I like the beef to be crispy, and it was not quite as crispy as I had hoped for. Ham croquettes were quite good as appetizer. All in all, worth trying.

Real Cuban food, best in all the region! Great mojitos, ropa vieja, croquetas, pan con bistec/lechón, etc. The prices are only second best to the quality and portions of the food. Check out the menu online, great prices and amazing desserts.

Went on an early weekday evening, and 100% glad we ate here. Service was fast, staff friendly, and many options for food and drink. Enjoyed drinks, appetizers and classic Cuban sandwich good enough to want to save half so could enjoy for lunch the next day. Spices were true to flavors and way above "a sandwich" standards. Will be back again to try another dish!

A Cuban restaurant no doubt, but it lacks the punch that makes you say wow! Of course I am not expecting the high standards of Cuban restaurants in Miami, which are amazing, but I want the food to be memorable. In this case, the restaurant offers a pretty average experience. Good for the locals in the Mayport area, but not enough for me to cross the city since the restaurant is a little far from home. The ambiance is pretty average as well. A 3 star score seems about right at this time.

My daughter and I were on a business trip and came here in the morning because she wanted an iced cafe con leche to start her day, something they don't serve. But they happily made one for her anyway and it was delicious! Great service, very friendly people, a wonderful family. We can't wait to return to try the food!

We have been several times since they have been opened. The food is always amazing, regardless of what you order. They have a fish dish that serves the entire fish, so if that isn't for you, just ask. The Creole spices are amazing! Appetizer, entree, and desert are all very nice.When they first opened, they were slow getting dishes out, but they have resolved that. Service is excellent!Prices are very reasonable and portions are very good.You won't be disappointed!

Every time I go here it's better than the last. I tried to throw a wrench in the system because I don't even like coconut that much, so I ordered coconut flan and even that was perfect. Absolutely love this place. I can only go there once every few months or else I'd be broke. Wait staff is on point, dishes are on point, just perfect in every way.

Sadly, this fabulous little place didn't survive the Covid-19 shutdown! They are closed and gone! Too bad because they were fabulous! Thank you for the memories! Best of luck! This little place is nestled in a quiet little plaza on Mayport road just past Plaza road. The atmosphere is not bad, it is decorated with some Cuban knick-knacks and art. The staff are super duper friendly! Most of the staff speak Spanish as their first language. The cook is the sweetest Cuban man I have ever met! I tasted the black beans and fell in love! I begged him for the recipe the entire time I was eating the delicious Cuban sandwich I had ordered. Before we left he came out to the dinning room and explained how to make the black beans from scratch! I LOVE this place and I hope that they do well because I don't want them to ever close their doors! Everyone needs to make time to come try this place out! I know you will love it!

The food was really good, service was on top of things. It was like i had my tia checking on me every 10 mins. came for lunch, i got the ropa vieja, was a little too salty but i still enjoyed it with the fresh cilantro on top. I left full and happy. They have military discounts too.
